One of the most popular procedures for anti ageing is a facelift. There are many preparatory measures that need to be taken when getting a facelift but after care is just as concerning and important.
Here Dr Goldberg reviews the subject of swelling and numbness after a facelift.
Facelift – How long should swelling and numbness last after a facelift?
Swelling after a facelift, like most other facial rejuvenation procedures, will be the worst after about 2-3 days from surgery. Usually about 1/3 of it has resolved by 1 week from surgery. About ¾ will have resolved by one month. The last 25% will take about 6 months to resolve. Swelling should be completely resolved by the 6 month time period.
With Regards to numbness, numbness after facelift is normal, and typically requires 6-12 months to completely resolve. Sometimes, depending on the nerves around your ear and neck, numbness around the ear can persist for longer and possibly even be permanent. This is rare however.
It is extremely important to choose the right surgeon for your face lift so be careful and be sure before you proceed with going under the knife.
